About the Project

Around the late 1980s, a diverse group of Orthodox Christians—Greeks, Russians, Syrians, Lebanese, Yugoslavians, Romanians, and more—found themselves in Bloomington, Indiana, without a local place to worship. The nearest Orthodox parishes were over an hour away in Terre Haute and Indianapolis, making it challenging to gather for worship and build community.

This documentary chronicles the remarkable forty-year journey of this small, multi-ethnic, multi-lingual group as they came together to establish the first Orthodox Church in Bloomington, Indiana.
